Jefferson Health and Bayada Home Health Care signed an agreement Tuesday to form a home health joint venture.

The new venture, Jefferson Health at Home, will offer the Philadelphia-based system’s patients in New Jersey and Pennsylvania in-home and virtual care, a news release said. The deal is expected to close in spring 2022.

“The pandemic heightened demand for hospital services delivered at home,” Dr. Bruce Meyer, president of Jefferson Health, said in a news release. “Now, with Bayada and Jefferson aligned, we’re able to leverage their best post-acute-care practices across an expanded geographic footprint, while lowering the total cost of care without compromising access or quality.”

The joint venture will be led by Jefferson Health and Bayada Home Health Care executives.

David Baiada, CEO of Bayada Home Health Care, called the partnership “a revolutionary step.”

“We will use this platform to launch bold and innovative digital healthcare experiences at home, where people want to be most,” Baiada said in a news release.

In addition, the joint venture will create an academic affiliation that will offer new training outlets for Jefferson Health students, namely those in the College of Nursing, the news release said.

The announcement about the partnership comes a few months after Bayada Home Health Care formed a partnership with VCU Health system in Virginia to offer end-of-life care and services, as more health systems look to expand into the growing home healthcare space.
